Slack

Reelwire uploads each video into one Slack channel through a Slack app of your own: an app made for your workspace alone needs no review by Slack, only two permissions and an invitation into the channel.

What you need

• A bot token of your Slack app, starting xoxb-, with the files:write and chat:write permissions.
• The channel ID of the channel it posts into, with the app invited there.

Set it up

1. Make the app. Open api.slack.com/apps, press Create New App, choose From scratch, name it (posts show this name) and pick your workspace.
2. Give it its permissions. Under OAuth & Permissions, Bot Token Scopes, add files:write and chat:write. Add channels:read as well if Reelwire should show the channel's name after checking; it posts without it.
3. Install it. On the same page press Install to Workspace and allow it. Copy the Bot User OAuth Token that appears, starting xoxb-. Keep it to yourself.
4. Invite it into the channel. In Slack, open the channel and send /invite @ followed by the app's name, or add it under the channel's Integrations.
5. Find the channel ID. Open the channel's details (its name at the top); the ID is at the foot, starting with C, such as C0123456789. It is not the channel's name.
6. Enter both in Reelwire. In Channels, open the channel's Settings, choose Slack as the Platform and the Aspect ratio, and under Platform connector paste the Bot token and the Channel ID. Switch Platform connector on under When a post is due.
7. Save. Reelwire asks Slack whether the token works, and refuses to save if not. Once saved, the section names the app and the workspace.

What a post looks like

The video, uploaded into the channel and played there, with the text beside it as its message: the post's own words, the brand's line, the link and the hashtags, up to 4,000 characters.

Changes and take-downs

Send delete request deletes the video and its message. Slack gives an app no way to change the text beside a file it shared, so Send update request says so: delete the post and post it again, or edit the message by hand in Slack.

When something is wrong

The post says	What to do
Slack refused the token	Copy the Bot User OAuth Token again from OAuth & Permissions and save it.
The Slack app lacks a permission it needs	Add files:write and chat:write, reinstall the app, and save its new token.
The Slack app is not in that channel	Invite it with /invite, then Deliver again on the Webhook screen's delivery log.
Slack cannot find that channel	Check the channel ID: it starts with C and is at the foot of the channel's details.

To stop it, switch the connector off on the channel. To end it for good, remove the app under Settings & administration, Manage apps in Slack, which revokes its token.
